Quick, affordable tyre changes
We change your tyres while you relax in our comfortable waiting room, flick through the papers and enjoy a coffee. It's worth bearing in mind that queues often build up in spring and autumn, so we encourage car owners to avoid them by bringing their car in for a tyre change in good time.
Changing tyres is something car owners generally need to think about twice a year. MAX1 Bílavaktin offers tyre changes at great prices for all car owners. You'll save time by getting your tyres changed before the rush starts, in both spring and autumn. The price list is further down the page.
MAX1 has experienced staff who use top-quality tyre changing equipment. They change tyres on all cars, crossovers, SUVs and vans at the company's tyre workshops, whether you drive on steel or alloy wheels.
On top of the great price, wheel balancing is of course included in the service, as it's important that your car drives smoothly after a tyre change, with no vibration in the steering wheel. We put a professional tyre change service at the heart of everything we do.
Make your tyres last longer – the easy way
To ensure even wear and get the most out of your tyres, it's recommended to rotate them regularly – about every 10,000 km. That means moving the front tyres to the rear axle and the rear tyres to the front axle, as front tyres often wear faster. All the tyres should also be balanced at the same time. This means better safety, more enjoyable driving and lower tyre costs in the long run.
One damaged tyre? Make sure the others are OK too
If one tyre on a drive axle (e.g. front or rear) is damaged, it's important that the other tyre on the same axle is the same size and not much more worn. Tyres of different sizes or with very uneven wear can affect stability, suspension and even the drivetrain. That's why it's usually recommended to replace both tyres on the same axle if one is damaged or badly worn.
Low tyre pressure increases tyre wear. You can drop in at MAX1 or go to the nearest petrol station and pump up your tyres. You'll usually find the correct tyre pressure for your car on the door frame of the driver's door.
A nail in your tyre
If there's a nail in your tyre, it's important to have the tyre repaired as soon as possible, or replaced if it can't be repaired. Tyre workshops can usually repair a nail hole. If there's a nail in the tyre but it isn't losing air, or is only losing it slowly and there's still enough air in the tyre, it's safe to drive to the nearest tyre workshop. If, however, the pressure is very low or the tyre is losing air quickly, it isn't safe to drive. The simplest option then is to change the wheel if you have a spare; if not, take the wheel off the car and bring it to a tyre workshop.

Today's cars are fitted with increasingly sophisticated equipment that improves safety, boosts fuel economy, reduces emissions and so on. Many cars today, including those made in the United States, have a system that monitors the car's tyre pressure. This is important safety equipment, so it must be handled with care when tyres are changed.
Customers of tyre workshops are quite often inconvenienced by incorrect tyre-changing practices, and this equipment has sometimes been damaged as a result. MAX1 Bílavaktin has gone over these issues specifically with its staff and urges car owners to look out for this equipment when changing tyres. The tyre pressure sensors are located on the inside of each rim; the system monitors the tyre pressure and sends a message to the dashboard if it isn't correct. It is essential to follow the manufacturer's procedures when changing tyres and to take the utmost care.
Tyre pressure warning
The warning light that displays these messages is usually orange and always comes on when the car is started. It stays on for a short time after starting but goes out if everything is in order. If the warning light doesn't go out after that time (or if it comes on without warning), follow the instructions in the car's handbook. If they don't solve the problem, the sensors on the rims need to be checked. In some cases, the monitoring system may need to be reset with special equipment at the service workshop of the relevant car dealer.
