How do I read the tyre size?
A size such as 235/55 R19 tells you three things: the first number is the width of the tyre in millimetres, the second is the height as a percentage of the width, and R19 is the rim size in inches. The number after it, e.g. 107, is the load index and the letter is the speed rating. You will find the size on the sidewall of the tyres currently on your car.
Studded tyres are allowed from 1 November to 14 April. Non-studded winter tyres can be used all year round and are a good choice if you mostly drive in town. All-season tyres are a compromise that suits drivers who do little winter driving.
