Hakkapeliitta R5 EV

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 EV is a studless winter tyre for EVs and hybrids — a good alternative to studded tyres that combines flawless grip with driving comfort. It is also available for cars (R5) and SUVs (R5 SUV).

Flawless grip with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 EV

The tread pattern has been redesigned. The new Double Block Grip delivers flawless grip in harsh winter conditions: a stiff row of tread blocks starts in the centre of the tyre, splits in two and runs out to the shoulder areas. There are 40% more tread blocks than on its predecessor and the contact area is 4% larger, giving better grip on icy roads.

Tyre noise takes away from the pleasure and comfort of driving; quieter tyres make the journey more comfortable and reduce passenger fatigue. The new Silent Touch tread design delivers a stable, smooth and quiet ride.

A studless tyre with Arctic Grip crystals

Arctic Grip crystals are mixed into the tread compound. They act like built-in pins, forming sharp, strong gripping edges in the rubber. As the tyre wears, the crystals are exposed and maintain the grip.

Together, the new tread pattern, the Arctic Grip crystals and Double Block Grip increase safety and comfort when driving in winter. The tyre's rolling resistance has also been lowered, which reduces energy consumption.

Eco-friendly with extended range

The tyre was developed with a focus on a smaller carbon footprint. A new rubber compound, Green Trace, delivers excellent winter grip, greater EV range and lower rolling resistance. Lower rolling resistance saves energy and reduces harmful emissions. More than a third of the raw materials are renewable and/or recycled.
