Flawless grip with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5
The tread pattern has been redesigned. The new Double Block Grip delivers flawless grip in harsh winter conditions: a stiff row of tread blocks starts in the centre of the tyre, splits in two and runs out to the shoulder areas. There are 40% more tread blocks than on its predecessor and the contact area is 4% larger, giving better grip on icy roads.

A studless tyre with Arctic Grip crystals
Arctic Grip crystals are mixed into the tread compound. They act like built-in pins, forming sharp, strong gripping edges in the rubber. As the tyre wears, the crystals are exposed and maintain the grip.
Together, the new tread pattern, the Arctic Grip crystals and Double Block Grip increase safety and comfort when driving in winter. The tyre's rolling resistance has also been lowered, which reduces fuel costs.
Eco-friendly with extended range
The tyre was developed with a focus on a smaller carbon footprint. A new rubber compound, Green Trace, delivers excellent winter grip, greater range in EVs and lower rolling resistance. Lower rolling resistance saves fuel and reduces harmful emissions. More than a third of the raw materials are renewable and/or recycled.
